Moscow has hosted a first ever world championship featuring all types of karate.
Azerbaijan’s team at the championship was led by Vice president of the country’s Sindo-ryu and Pencak-silat Federation, head coach Abbas Hunbatov.
The Azerbaijani team succeeded at the championship, which involved nearly 1,000 fighters from more than 40 countries.
Sanan Khalilli claimed gold in the 37kg weight category.
Other Azerbaijani fighter Alisafar Amirov grabbed silver in the 39kg division.
Allahyar Ahmadov (25kg), Geys Baghirzade (32kg), Rufat Isayev (57kg) and Lala Mikayilova (64kg) bagged bronze medals.
The world championship also featured a festival.
